Behind him is a world almost entirely in black and white.

The black and white environment represents people who see life in a very fixed way. It is a place where there is little room for difference, colour or open-mindedness. Because of this, the clown does not fully feel understood or accepted by the world around him.

Instead of immediately jumping into the pool, he sits at the edge and reflects on his life. He thinks about the things he is still holding on to and what he needs to release in order to move forward.

The balloons floating away represent these attachments, thoughts and emotions.
