Sometimes it was inspired by an event that happened that day, something I noticed in everyday life, a random conversation, a word, a thought, an emotion, or a fantasy that wandered through my mind. Every night I returned to the drawing to add another layer. There were evenings when I would literally fall asleep while working on it, only to wake up moments later with new ideas that seemed to come straight from my dreams. I had this strong feeling that I needed to get away, because I no longer felt at home in the place where I was. But this painting was made just before that journey, in the middle of a period where my mind was full of thoughts and questions.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI felt like I belonged nowhere.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd because of that, I also felt lost in myself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis work grew from that feeling of confusion. From not knowing where to go, what the next step should be, or how to move forward after everything I had been through. At that moment, everything felt uncertain. With every addition, the figure gained more depth, expression and personality.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEventually, I started seeing something of my own \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eego\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e reflected in its face.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFor me, ego is not simply something bad that needs to disappear. It is something I try to recognize and become conscious of  especially in the moments when it becomes louder and begins influencing the way I think, react or see the world.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe devil-like character became a visual reflection of that part of myself.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI created this painting in my sister's old bedroom, during a period when I temporarily had to move back in with my parents.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt was shortly before I left for Nepal.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAt that point, I felt very strongly that I wanted to leave. I wanted movement, change and distance from the situation I was in.
